John F. Griffin of Bedford, MA died unexpectedly on Dec 5, 2021.

His remaining family includes his brothers Gregory Griffin of NYC and Christopher Griffin of Providence, RI, as well as his sister, Christine Griffin of NYC.

In addition, John’s family included nieces Celeste Griffin-Churchill, Justine Griffin Churchill, Kate Griffin, Kylie Duff and Jaelyn Duff, and nephew Matthew Griffin.

John was predeceased by his sisters Regina Griffin and Theresa Griffin Duff.

John received his Bachelor of Arts degree in Philosophy from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst. He went on to achieve a Master’s degree in Information Science from Simmons College in Boston, Massachusetts, and a Master’s degree in Computer Science from Rivier College in Nashua, New Hampshire. John also held a PMP Certificate and membership in several professional associations.

John’s professional life included long employment at the Dynamics Research Corp and then Lockheed Martin for the USAF at Hanscom AFB in Bedford, MA.

Time spent away from work included John’s study of foreign languages, being fluent in several, and his enjoyment of musical performance, having mastered the violin, cello, and guitar.

John had an acerbic and dry sense of humor and was exceptionally well-read, enjoying an intellectual banter with family and friends. He maintained an extensive personal library, often seeking out obscure books in mathematics, physics, and philosophy to add to his vast collection.

He will be missed by all who knew and loved him. He will always be remembered for his verbal quips and admired for his dedication to a life lived in the quest for knowledge.

Burial services will be private. Donations can be made in John’s honor to the Quincy Animal Shelter, P.O. Box 690088, Quincy, MA 02269-0088 ( www.quincyanimalshelter.org )
