Linda Kay Newell

Linda Kay Newell (née Stevens), 75, beloved wife, mother and grandmother, passed away on August 19, 2022 after a bravely-fought battle with cancer. Born on January 24, 1947 in Yankton, South Dakota, she was the only child of Millard and Lillian Stevens. A graduate of Yankton Senior High School, Linda went on to receive a B.S. in Education from The University of South Dakota in Vermillion in 1969. Upon graduation, Linda moved to Massachusetts where she and her husband, Bruce, were married shortly thereafter.

Linda was a Pepperell resident for nearly 50 years and it was here that she raised her two children, George (Avery) and Lauren. She was a long-time member of the Community Church of Pepperell where she taught Sunday School for many years and served on various committees. She enjoyed spending time at the Albert Harris Senior Center and could be found socializing there most days. Linda liked traveling and had cherished memories of her travels to Spain, Italy, Switzerland and the Azores with her family. She was also an avid New England sports fan and would rarely miss watching the Patriots, Red Sox or Bruins, as well as college football games. Her family will be reminded of her in countless ways but Brigham’s chocolate chip ice cream, bargain-hunting and sitting under the shade of the maple tree will always evoke her memory. Above all of these things, however, her greatest joy was being a grandma to her 3 grandchildren and she took an active role in each of their upbringings.

She is survived by her husband, Bruce Newell, and would have celebrated their 53rd wedding anniversary on August 26th. She leaves behind her son, George Avery Newell (Christie) of West Townsend, MA and their son Lucas; and Lauren Miroshnikov (Evgeny) of Pepperell, MA and their children Alexandra and Anton.

A celebration of life will be arranged at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Albert Harris Center, 37 Nashua Road, Pepperell, MA 01463.
