Neil J. Teachout, Jr.

Neil J. Teachout, Jr. passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 28th, 2021 surrounded by his loving family at UMass Memorial Hospital in Worcester, MA.  He was 80 years old.

Neil was born on July 14, 1941 in Nashua, NH to father, Neil J. Teachout, Sr. and mother, Vera A. Teachout.  He is the oldest of two sons.  He graduated from Pepperell High School in 1960.  Neil graduated from Central Technical Institute in Kansas City, Missouri.  He started his professional career at Collins Radio Company in Iowa.  In 1965, Neil married his high school sweetheart, Susan E. Woolfrey.  That year they welcomed their son, Steven N. Teachout and in 1968 welcomed their daughter, Heidi L. Kidd (Teachout).  After having his two children, Neil and Susan returned to Massachusetts and he worked at Burroughs Corporation, Wang Laboratories and NEC.  In his later years, he founded Amity Computer.

Neil is survived by his wife, Susan, his son, Steve and his wife Julie (Woodall) Teachout, Atlanta, GA, his daughter, Heidi and her husband Mike Kidd, Boxborough, MA, grandsons, Drew Teachout and Philip Kidd, granddaughters, Lisa Kidd and Anna Teachout, his brother Jeff and his wife Mary Lou Teachout, Pepperell, MA, along with countless in-laws, cousins, nieces and nephews.  All held him in the highest regard and loved him dearly.

Neil loved fishing, canoeing, restoring old cars, wood working (building and carving), computers and puttering around Passamaquoddy Bay in his lobster boat, the Lisa Anna.

A celebration of life will be planned for next spring or early summer.
