Thomas Banks of Arlington, MA died peacefully after a lengthy illness at the age of 88 on February 9th, 2022. Tom Banks, or “Banksy” as he was called, was born on December 6th, 1933 in Charlestown, MA as a son of the late Thomas M. and Margaret A. (MacDonald) Banks
From there, Tom grew up in Somerville, MA where he attended seminary school at a young age. Tom later went on to a career of 27 years with the MBTA in Boston. Following his career with the MBTA, Tom found a career and knack for politics while working for the Massachusetts State House. Tom worked under Senator Bob Havern for many years.
Tom leaves behind his first wife, Barbara Banks of Watertown MA, children Tom Banks and his wife Cheryl of Waltham, Beverly Kelley and husband Jim of Newburyport MA, Karen Peladeau of Ashby MA, Randy Banks and wife Jodie of Tyngsborough MA, Robert Banks and Simone of Winder GA, Brian Banks of Gardner MA, as well as several grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Saturday February 26th at 10 a.m. in the McGaffigan Funeral Home, 37 Main St. (Rte. 113) Pepperell, MA. Spring Burial will be held at a later date.
